Immunizations and Vaccines Resources
Immunizations and vaccines are related concepts but have slightly different meanings.
Immunizations refer to the process by which a person becomes protected, or immune, to a particular disease through vaccination. Immunization involves receiving vaccines to develop immunity against various diseases, preventing illness and its potential complications.
Vaccines refer to the actual substance or preparation that helps build immunity against specific diseases. They contain weakened or inactive parts of a germ (like a virus or bacteria) or substances that mimic the germ, allowing the body to recognize and fight off the disease without causing illness. Vaccines are given through shots, oral drops, or nasal sprays. Knowledge is your best ally. Learning about the vaccines recommended for your child's age and understanding how they work can give you peace of mind and confidence in keeping your kiddos healthy.
